Staying Cute While Being Sick

Updated: Oct 22, 2020

’Tis the season where everyone you seem to encounter is coughing or sniffling. It seems like when the cold comes to Slippery Rock, it seems to hit everyone pretty hard and when you’re sick, I’m sure fashion is the last thing on your mind. But I have developed what I consider a nice way to dress comfy and still look super cute. When I’m sick, the first things I tend to grab are my sweatpants and an oversized shirt, easy to nap in and easy to move in. To dress these up on my way to class, I tend to throw on some fun socks and a super-sized cardigan. In case you have a fever, it can be smart to dress in layers so that way when you’re hot, you can take it off, but if you have chills you’ll be prepared to bundle up. When I had my long hair, I would throw my hair up in a ponytail, or messy bun with a scrunchie so it’s out of my face. When I’m sick, I know I like to keep my hair out of my face, so with my short hair, I’ve been throwing my hair in braids or wearing a hat. My go to sick shoes are lace less shoes, sometimes moccasins, sometimes vans, just depends on the outfit and the mood. I finish my outfit with a warm drink, my winter coat and a scarf and I head out the door. Being sick can be hard enough and make you feel poorly but taking that extra minute to spruce up your outfit can really make a difference and make you feel better and more put together.
