Mom jeans were a trend in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s. Mom jeans are practical and can be dressed up or down. They are also versatile in the fact that they can be worn during the winter or summer. Personally, I’ll wear mom jeans with holes on a cool summer night. In my opinion, mom jeans are much more comfortable and breathable than skinny jeans. My favorite mom jeans I own are from PacSun and American Eagle.
Band tees are another one of my favorite trends, especially oversized ones. They were first notably popular in the ‘70s. They can be worn in the summer or layered on top of a long sleeve in the winter. They can be very comfortable if worn with sweatpants or stylish if worn with jeans.
Converse, aka Chuck Taylors, were a big trend in the late ‘70s and early ‘80s. Converse sell low top, high top, and platform sneakers. I personally love to pair my high top Converse with cropped jeans. I just recently learned that Converse is a subsidiary of Nike. This is ironic since I will sometimes wear my Converse to lift. Converse are great because they can be worn for almost any occasion.
Corduroy pants are extremely comfortable. They first became popular in the 1970s. Corduroy pants can be hard to style, depending on the color of the pants. Although, they are very warm and nice for fall and winter fashion. My favorite corduroy pants I own are from American Eagle.
Biker shorts were repurposed for fashion purposes in the ‘80s and ‘90s. Before this, they were mostly used by cyclists. Biker shorts are great for athleisure wear, working out, or dressing up. My favorite way to wear biker shorts is with an oversized tee. I own a pair of cotton biker shorts and a pair of spandex material. I like both, depending on the look I’m going for.
Claw clips first became a trend in the early 2000s as part of the Y2K trend. Claw clips are also a great alternative if you don’t want to or don’t have time to do your hair. These can also come in a variety of colors. I personally like to wear neutral clips like brown and black. They can be used for a half up half down hairstyle or to put all of your hair up. One thing I want to note is that I recently chopped my hair and I am now unable to put my hair into a ponytail or clip. This is something to consider when purchasing clips.
Sweater vests first became popular in the ‘70s. Sweater vests are also another versatile trend. I will wear sweater vests in the summer paired with shorts. Also in the summer, I like to wear bright colored sweater vests. In the winter, I wear sweater vests over a long sleeve. Also in the winter, I like to wear patterned and dark colored sweater vests. Sweater vests can also be worn cropped or oversized.
The longest trend that took to come back was cat eye glasses, originating in the 1950s. Cat eye sunglasses may be controversial to some. I personally love the cat eye sunglasses. They are not very practical and can be difficult to see out of. Although, they make for cute pictures and can be paired with any outfit.
