Michelle Tanner is All Grown Up

It’s most likely been a number of years since the ever stylish Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have used the phrase, “You got it dude.” In the Full House Netflix reprise, Fuller House, co-star Bob Saget explained to then older sister Stephanie, “Well, Michelle sends her love, but she's busy in New York running her fashion empire,” when asked about where her little sister Michelle is.

As usual, dad was right. Since the show wrapped up the Olsens have been busy running their label, The Row, gaining wide popularity and acclaim. On Wednesday, the CFDA Fashion Award nominees were announced, and the sisters have been nominated for their hopeful fourth win.

If I sound partially bias, please forgive me, but Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are like fashion gods. After leaving her acting days in the past, Ashley set out on a simple mission in 2005; to create the perfect white t-shirt. Little did she know what would come of it. A year later in 2006, her and sister Mary-Kate created a small collection, t-shirt included that was aptly picked-up buy luxury department store Barneys New York, and oh yeah, the retailer bought the entire collection.

Their fates were sealed. If you’re thinking to yourself, “Why have I never heard of this?” it’s most likely intentional. The Olsens’ focus was on the quality of the clothes they were producing, not on recognition. In fact, they didn’t say anything about The Row for three years after its launch.

“We didn’t want people to know we were behind it. We’d learnt so much about building brands and talking to a specific customer. We did it with our faces at the beginning, and we knew we didn’t want to do that anymore. It’s far more fun this way,” Ashley Olsen said of The Row in an interview.

After just three years in business the Olsens’ were inducted into the Council of Fashion Designers of America in 2009 for The Row, and were not long after awarded womenswear designer of the year in 2012. In 2014 they were awarded with accessories designer of the year, and in 2015 they were once again awarded womenswear designer of the year. This year they’ve been nominated again for womenswear designer, and I’m channeling the ‘luck of the Irish’ for another win.

Unfortunately, the awards aren’t until June 6th, so I’ll have to wait a little longer to see if they’ve done it again. Regardless, the Olsens are extremely talented women who know what they’re doing. All I have to say about it is, “You got it dude.”
