Spring Fashion Staples

Updated: Feb 10, 2020

By Jenna Blair

Spring has sprung fashionistas! You know what means…spring fashion! Warmer weather, pretty flowers, brighter colors, and thinner, more breathable fabrics are all things I love about this time of year. As the weather transitions, so does our wardrobe.

Here are some of my spring fashion staple pieces.

Florals

When I think of spring, flowers immediately come to mind. I love wearing florals this time of year. I think it’s a nice change from the dark and sometimes dreary colors I tend to wear during the fall and winter. Florals are a great way to incorporate prints into your wardrobe. The colors in the dress pictured are more muted. I think muted florals are a great way to try out the trend without being over the top. I paired this Target sundress with a cropped jean jacket from Charlotte Russe.

Rain Boots

April showers bring May flowers, right? With spring comes a lot of rain, especially in Slippery Rock. Rain boots are essential this time of year. Whether they’re tall or short, printed or plain, matte or shiny, if you want to keep your feet dry while still looking fashionable this season, I suggest getting your hands on a pair. I bought this pair of black, glossy Chelsea style rain boots from the brand Nautica at Ross Dress for Less recently. I can’t lie, I’m really excited to break these out the next time it rains!

Pastels

Spring calls for pastels! This is one trend I wouldn’t mind keeping around for years to come. After wearing lots of black, grey, and maroon during the fall and winter it’s fun to switch it up and wear brighter, happier colors such as baby pink, lilac, and yellow in the spring. I think pastels are so beautiful and can enhance a person’s mood. I found this baby pink sweatshirt in the men’s section at Marshalls and fell in love with it!

I can’t wait to rock each of my staples this spring! Spring fashion is so fun, and I love seeing everyone’s spring break outfits on social media whether they’re on a University trip in Europe, at the beach with friends, or at their favorite local coffee shop back home. Fashion is what you make of it, and I encourage you all to make it your own and wear what you love and feel comfortable in. Happy spring fashionistas!
