My Top Five Things I Want to Try Next (Baking Edition)

By Lindsay Roman

My hobby since the pandemic has always been baking. No matter the occasion, I will be baking. This includes parties, breakups, holidays, and more. As a part of my prep for post-grad, I wanted to come up with a list of things I want to try. This one, baking edition.

1. Sourdough loaf

It’s not that I haven’t tried sourdough before, because I absolutely have. Although, when the media influences you to try to do something and you really need a hobby, sourdough seems wonderful. There are plenty of videos on YouTube and TikTok that can walk you through the steps on how to make a starter, all the way to your fresh baked bread.

2. Cheese Danish

You can absolutely blame Starbucks for this one, but also Pinterest too. I have seen recipes for strawberry cheese Danishes, and they look absolutely delicious for that late night snack or early morning sugar fix. You can also make them into different shapes which I think is so cute because you could absolutely theme them.

3. Banana bread chocolate chip cookies

Now, there is one thing in life that can get me out of bed in this cold weather and that’s warm banana bread, but then let’s take that a step farther and make them into cookies? Absolutely will be on my list of things to bake. Banana bread really can put a smile to your face if you love bananas! Shaved walnuts and pecans on top could also add in a protein factor!

4. Lemon blueberry/raspberry cookies

The idea of an almost-lemonade style cookie just makes me READY for summer! I don’t normally prefer lemon baked treats simply because too much lemon can really make or break a dessert for me. Although, mixing it with some other fruits can absolutely help balance this yummy treat.

5. A new cobbler? Blueberry? Cherry?

I always get complements on my peach cobbler every fall. It’s a staple I make for friends and family. Although, I want to be able to change up the fruits a little bit so I can make it year-round. Let me know which one you think I should make below!

Here’s some recipes that I will use when baking these in the future! These are the ones I have saved for when I try them:
